... day trips ...

bali has more to offer than just perfect waves. its countryside and landscape are unique and well worth exploring. excursions to some of the island's most interesting places are a key feature of the balicamp. our programme includes tours to the hot springs, lake batur, the island's largest hindu temple or bali's highest mountain, the mt. agung (3000 m) but also day trips to the rain forest in east java, the west bali national park or to the neighbouring islands...

... shopping, nightlife, and more ...

kuta is the island's lively centre and to go shopping is an absolute must! craftwork such as traditional carvings, sarongs or furniture, fashion and surf-wear (all the leading companies have shops in kuta) or dvds (recent films are about 1 or 2€) - the range is wide. haggling over the price is an essential part of every deal and definitely an experience, and sometimes a good bargain can be just as satisfying as a wave ride. the bubbling nightlife is also worth enjoying even if don't necessarily has to be in one of the big clubs downtown.

... scuba diving ...

indonesia's underwater world is a universe of its own. for beginners we offer openwater courses in collaboration with jerome, a renowned diving school; and to advanced divers our wreck and night diving sessions will make bali an even more interesting spot. snorkelling is possible in tulamben, nusa lembogan or off the menjangan islands.

... clime ...

bali is a tropical island with temperatures ranging from 21 to 33°c. dry season lasts from april until september, and that means sunshine every day. wet season lasts from december until march, and at least a short daily shower is common. it might get a bit cooler at night, but still, temperatures mostly remain tropical. so don't take too many clothes! except for one long sleeve outfit and the right shoes for hiking the volcano, shorts and tee shirts are more than enough. besides, shopping is a must on bali! water temperature is a constant 28°c, so you will mostly surf in shorts. at chilly morning sessions you will sometimes wear a lycra shirt, but a neoprene shorty is not really necessary.

... money, atm, credit cards ...

the currency used is indonesian rupiah (idr). 12.000 rp equals 1 eur. all money changers change eur, but if you don't want to take too much cash with you, there are plenty of atm machines which accept any credit- or atm (maestro) card from home. most of the shops and restaurants accept credit cards as well.

... language ...

the official language on bali is indonesian, but people here have their own dialect, so most of them speak balinese. don't worry, english will still take you anywhere!

... vaccinations & medicine ...

medical care is fine here on bali. the most important personal first aid for cuts and wounds, common travel medication and sunscreen is still a very good idea and saves you valuable holiday time. contact your doctor and set up your medical travel kit. keep in mind that you don't need to bring all medication you might need, because there are plenty of pharmacies on bali and their range will definitely meet your needs. just remember the name of the medicine and its ingredients, and you will get it here. besides, most medication is much cheaper here than at home, is as effective, and that saves you luggage.
